Information about an accident abroad

  • In case you are involved in an accident abroad, contact the Motor Insurers' Bureau of the country where the accident occurred for further assistance. Keep in mind that at the rear page of your Green Card you may find all contact details of the Motor Insurers' Bureaux of the countries of the System.
  • In the event that you are liable for the accident caused, give the other driver a copy of your Green Card or insurance policy, and contact your insurance company or the Bureau of the country of accident to declare the accident.
  • In the event that you are not liable for the accident and you wish to claim compensation, make sure that you keep full details of insurance coverage of the damaging vehicle, ask from the other driver to make his/her declaration to his/her insurance company, which you should contact if your vehicle needs to be repaired whilst abroad.If the accident, for which you are not liable, has occurred in an EU country, you may claim compensation upon your return to Greece by contacting the Greek Auxiliary Fund, where the Information Centre operates and provides information about the claims representatives of the companies of EU member states, or the Motor Insurers' Bureau- Greece in case no claims representative has been appointed.
